CANADIAN NATIONAL EXHIBITIONThe Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), also known as The Exhibition or The Ex, is an annual event that takes place at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on the third Friday of August leading up to and including Labour Day, the first Monday in September. With approximately 1.6 million visitors each year, the CNE is Canada's largest annual community event and one of the top fairs in North America.[2] The fair is a combination of agricultural exhibits and events, carnival rides and entertainment, live music, food and special events. Learn about some of the varieties of flowers we have on site, as you walk the grounds with our Greenhouse Grower and decide which flowers from our gardens you'd like for your floral arrangement. From the large state fair zinnias to the smaller more delicate fountain grass plumes, there are so many options for you to choose from. Soap Making WorkshopEver wondered what is involved in making your own soap? Join Clare from Big Beer Soap Company as she covers the chemistry behind soap making in simple terms, including what saponification is as well as the benefits of different oils, and butters and how to use a soap calculator. This class will unlock the secret of soap making, giving you the confidence to make your own soaps at home. Each student will leave with approximately 6 bars of soap a booklet with everything we have covered in the class including recipes, suppliers and links. Music in the SquarePat Bayly Square (55 Bayly Street W.), Ajax’s downtown urban hub, will bring a vibrant energy to the community this summer with free family-friendly concerts, and children’s performances. Kicking off on July 16 and running every other Tuesday evening until August 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Pat Bayly Square is your Tuesday night free entertainment destination. Music in the Square features professional entertainment for all ages with genres ranging from classic rock to pop. Each week, make sure you arrive early to enjoy delicious treats from our snack bar and/or a beverage from a local Durham brewery. Please Note: Bring a chair.
